Tulip Festival

Everyone shoots this field. Almost no one is standing in it before the sun comes up. The Wooden Shoe tulip farm outside Woodburn pulls crowds every spring, but the rows only glow like this for the few minutes around first light, before the gates open and the place fills.
I got low into the wet rows so the center path runs straight off the bottom edge and carries you all the way to that lone stand of bare trees on the horizon. Red, yellow, and white blooms close in tight, the sky goes up in fire behind the trees, and the only warm light in the frame sits right on the skyline. A few minutes later the color was gone and the field went flat.
The most photographed field in Oregon, on a morning almost nobody saw. Printed and finished to gallery standard, made to bring that color across your own wall every day.
